FAQS

What are the benefits of massage?

There are Physical, emotional, and mental benefits such as:

calms the nervous system, lowers blood pressure, relieves muscles tension, seeds recovery from injury, decreases muscles deterioration, increases range of motion, increases blood and lymph circulation, reduces stress and anxiety, provides a feeling of well being, promotes quality of sleep, and so much more!

What to expect during your massage?

When going for a massage you should expect to be greeted and taking back to a room by your massage therapist, where you will have a conversation of what brought you in and what your expectations are, and any previous health history that would interfere or apply to the current issue. The therapist will communicate back with you their plan on how to best address the problem at hand. They will leave you to dress down to your comfort leave and get on the table between the sheets and will knock to see when you are ready.  If you have any other questions or concerns about your session or the process of a massage DO NOT hesitate to ask you therapist.

Do I have to remove my clothes?

When getting a massage you dress down to you comfort level. which means if the only thing you want to remove is your shoes that is okay! Otherwise when you get on the table you will be completely covered by a sheet with only the area I am currently working on uncovered.

How will I feel after massage?

After a massage it is normal to feel tired, relaxed, and sore.

While it doesn't happen to everyone you may feel light headed or maybe even nauseated. All these responses are normal, drinking water and resting will help your body flush the toxins and be less sore.

Similar to working out you should only be sore a few days. If you are sore for longer than a few days your pressure was too deep in your massage and should be adjusted your next visit. Please let your therapist know.

Do you accept insurance?

While we do not accept insurance, we can get you a superbill to submit to your insurance company.

What is a SuperBill?

A superbill is a special invoice that you can submit to your insurance to get reimbursed.

Check with your insurance on requirements, before many ask for a Doctor recommendation prior to a massage session.

Talk or no Talking

100% up to you, if you want to have a conversation or not both are okay. I will follow your lead!

Should a massage be painful?

NO!

This is a huge misconception many have about massage, they think if it doesn't hurt nothings been done. When in fact if you are in pain during a massage you could actually be damaging tissue.

How do I know if the massage is too deep?

Let's say a 7 is the perfect pressure for you, a 5-6 will feel good but its a little too soft. An 8 is as deep as you want to go an 8 is it hurts so good. It might be a little intense like walking down stairs after leg day but it still feels good. A 9 just hurts, this is when you start to hold your breathe, clench your fist, or just about anything to get through that moment. A 9 is too deep and is when tissue damage can happen.

Can you change the music?

Yes, I have the ability to change the music to anything from nature sounds to rock and roll, so if you don't like whats playing let me know. I will keep it in my notes so the next time you come it will already be playing.

What is Cupping?

an ancient technic where cups are place on the body and suction is used to create negative pressure. The layers beneath the cup or stretched upward creating space in the tissues. 5 minutes of cupping is often equal to 30 minutes of deep tissue work and far more comfortable for most people.

Does Cupping cause bruising?

Cupping does cause marks but they are NOT bruises. Bruise are due to a blow or impact that ruptures underlying blood vessels, and will often hurt.

Cupping marks don't always occur, and is blood flow rising to the surface to promote circulation, relaxation, and a decrease in muscle pain.

The darker the mark is the greater the stagnation you have in an area caused by muscle tension.

Can I go workout after a massage?

It is best to rest after your massage. If you need to workout please do so earlier in your day to ensure your muscles can rest and heal after massage.

If you don't let your body rest after a massage you will see results slower and they will not last as long between sessions.

Should I Tip?

There is no need for tipping. The highest form of appreciation is telling others about me.

More Testimonies

"My husband and I get massages all over the place, and Ariel is the best massage therapist we have ever had. She is so strong, fluid, and intuitive. She can get all of the kinks out when my back is about to go out. She is so intuitive about where your body needs deep work, and is amazing at a relaxing massage if that’s what you want. I always want Ariel to do deep tissue, because I’ve never had anyone be able to do deep tissue like her before. She is a national treasure."
